Engine Coolant System, Draining, Vehicles With One Heater Core

- Spring Clip Pliers:VAS6499
- Shop Crane - Drip Tray:VAS6208
- Hose extension diameter 20 mm
- Compressed air gun
The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.
Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.
Reduce pressure by covering coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully opening.
Engine coolant system, draining, vehicles with two heater cores. Refer to ENGINE COOLANT SYSTEM, DRAINING, VEHICLES WITH TWO HEATER CORES .
-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING .
-- Close the coolant reservoir.
-- Remove the left front wheel. Refer to appropriate service information. .
-- Remove the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to WHEEL HOUSING LINER .
Drain Engine Coolant Pipes
-- Open the clamps and remove the coolant hoses -A and B-.
-- Attach a hose -2- to the line -B- to lengthen it and place the one end in the : VAS6208 .
-- Apply maximum 1.0 bar (14.5 psi) compress air across the line -A- using a compressed air gun -1- until the circuit is completely empty.
Drain Heater Coolant Pipes
-- Attach a hose -1- to the line -A- to lengthen it and place the one end in the : VAS6208 .
-- Apply maximum 1.0 bar (14.5 psi) compress air across the line -B- using a compressed air gun -2- until the circuit is completely empty.
-- Connect the coolant hoses and the clamps.
