Coolant Pump And Coolant Thermostat: Notes

CAUTION:

Note The Following  whenever working inside the engine compartment due to limited space:

  • Route all lines and cables in their original locations.
  • Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
WARNING:

The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.

Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

Reduce pressure by covering coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully opening.

NOTE:

When the engine is warm the cooling system is under pressure. If necessary release pressure before commencing repair work.

Hoses are secured with spring-type clamps. In cases of repair only use spring-type clamps.

The :VAS6340  are recommended for installing the spring clips.

The :VAS6362  are recommended for installing space-saving clamps.

While installing, route coolant hoses free of tension and without them coming into contact with other components.

Arrows on coolant pipes and coolant hoses must line up across from each other.

Replace the gaskets and seals.

Check the cooling system for leaks using the : VAG1274  and the : VAG1274/8  and :VAG1274/9  .
