Front Seat With Faulty Seat Forward/Back Adjustment Motor Or Faulty Control Module, Removing: Notes
Driver Seat Forward/Back Adjustment Motor -V28- / Front Passenger Seat Forward/Back Adjustment Motor -V31- or Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module -J136- / Front Passenger Memory Seat Control Module -J521-, checking
- Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Move the seat as far up as possible.
-- Remove the sill-side trim. Refer to SILL-SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Check electrical and electronic components and wires before removing seat further to avoid unnecessary repair costs.
-- Perform the following tests:
- Check the fuse. Refer to Wiring Diagram.
- Check the voltage at the connector station and perform fault finding if necessary. Refer to Wiring Diagram.
- Check the voltage to the control module. Refer to Wiring Diagram.
- Check the voltage to the seat forward/back adjustment motor. Refer to Wiring Diagram .
-- Replace the fuse if faulty. Refer to Wiring Diagram .
-- If there is no voltage at the connector station, repair or replace the wire. Refer to Wiring Diagram.
-- Replace the lower seat frame together with seat forward/back adjustment motor if the seat forward/back adjustment motor is faulty. Refer to SEAT PAN, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING .
-- If the control module is faulty: replace the Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module -J136- / Front Passenger Memory Seat Control Module -J521-. Refer to SEAT ADJUSTMENT CONTROL MODULE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Removing with faulty Driver Seat Forward/Back Adjustment Motor -V28- / Front Passenger Seat Forward/Back Adjustment Motor -V31-
- Loosen bolts -3- only after checking electrical or electronic components and wires.
- After loosening the bolts -2-, replace the lower seat frame including the seat forward/back adjustment motor.
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Switch the ignition on.
-- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery with the ignition on. Refer to BATTERY .
-- Remove the bolts -3- (quantity: 4) on both sides.
I - Seat Forward/Back Adjustment Motor Threaded Connection on Sill Side
II - Seat Forward/Back Adjustment Motor Threaded Connection on Tunnel-Side
To remove the tunnel-side bolts, reach under the seat from the front.
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". This can be done by touching the door striker, for example.
-- Disconnect the connector on the seat forward/back adjustment motor.
-- Move seat until the bolts -1- (quantity: 4) are visible.
-- Remove the bolts.
-- Disconnect the connectors at the connector station.
-- Connect the : VAS6281 or the :VAS6282 .
-- Lift the front seat with a second technician and remove it from the vehicle.
-- Separate the lower frame -2- from the upper frame -1-. Refer to SEAT PAN, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING .
-- Replace the lower seat pan frame with seat forward/back adjustment motor. Refer to SEAT PAN, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING .
