Vehicles With An Air Spring Shock Absorber
-- Activate the vehicle lift mode and place the vehicle on the lifting platform. Refer to VEHICLE LIFT MODE .
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
-- Loosen the wheel bolts.
-- Raise the vehicle.
-- Remove the wheels.
-- Clamp off pressure and return line using Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm:3094 .
-- Remove the screws -arrows- from the steering gear.
-- Open the bracket -1- and remove the return line.
-- Loosen nut of track rod ball joint, but do not unscrew yet.
To protect thread, screw nut on pin a few turns.
-- Remove the tie rod end from the wheel bearing housing and remove the nut.

-- Remove the screws -1- from the steering gear and remove the heat shield.
-- Remove the pressure and return line -1- from the steering gear downward.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- on the Servotronic Solenoid Valve -N119-.
-- Remove the screws -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.
-- Remove the screw on the steering gear for the universal joint and then remove the universal joint.
-- Remove the steering gear screws -arrows- from the subframe.
-- Remove the bolts and nuts -1- through -3- the connect the front final drive -A- to the subframe -B-.
-- Install the insert from a trolley jack in the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931 .
-- Lift the front final drive with the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS6931 .
-- Remove the rear bolt for the subframe -arrow- on both sides of the vehicle.
-- Lower the subframe as far as possible.
-- Remove the steering gear on the right side of the vehicle.
