Brake Pads, Removing And Installing: Installing: Notes

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required

Torque Wrench 1332 40-200 Nm :VAG1756A
Piston Resetting Tool:T10145

NOTE:

Before pressing piston into cylinder using piston resetting tool, brake fluid must be extracted from brake fluid reservoir. Otherwise, especially if reservoir has been topped off, fluid will overflow and cause damage.

-- Push back the pistons.

Spring sits correctly in the brake caliper.

-- Place the brake pad wear display wire between the brake caliper and spring and insert it into the inner brake pad.

-- Press the brake pads against the spring into the brake caliper and slide them onto the brake pad retaining pins -arrows-.

WARNING:

The brake pad must fit in the retaining spring and bolts correctly.

-- Carefully place the brake caliper over the brake rotor.

-- Bolt brake caliper onto wheel bearing housing.

-- Press the brake pad wear display wire into the opening in the brake caliper.

-- Connect the connectors -2- of brake pad wear indicator in the bracket on the brake caliper.

-- Install The Wheels.

Wheel bolt tightening specifications. Refer to WHEEL BOLT TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

NOTE:

After replacing brake pads and before moving vehicle, always depress brake pedal several times firmly to properly seat brake pads in their normal operating position.

Check brake fluid level after replacing brake pad.
