Front Axle Toe, Adjusting: Notes

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required 

-- Loosen the lock nut -1- , while counterholding at tie rod end.

-- Remove the spring clip from the boot.

-- Adjust the toe by turning the left and/or right tie rod.

An open end wrench on the hex fitting of the tie rod can be used for this purpose.

Be Sure That Boots Are Not Twisted After Turning Tie Rods!

Twisted boots wear out quickly.

-- Tighten the lock nut -1- with :VAG1332/11  while counterholding at the tie rod end socket area.

-- Check toe value again.

Setting may change slightly after lock nut is tightened.

However, if the measured toe value lies within the tolerance, the adjustment is correct.

-- Install the spring clamp on the boot.
