Steering Column Switch Module, Removing And Installing: Removing
Do not turn the spiral spring on the Steering Column Electronics Control Module -J527- from its center position during removal. The front wheels must be in the straight ahead position.
-- Lower the steering all the way down and pull it out all the way.
Always follow the procedure in the Service Information when disconnecting the battery. The battery cut-out will be deactivated and damage to the vehicle electrical equipment may occur if the connecting sequence is not followed exactly. Refer to BATTERY .
-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove The Driver Side Airbag Unit. Refer to DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to AIRBAG STEERING WHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove The Steering Column Trim Panel. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disengage and disconnect harness connectors -2 and 3-.
-- To release the connector -3- press the connector lock -1- in direction of -arrow-, until the connector -2- unlocks.
-- Loosen the clamping screw and remove the steering column switch module from the steering column.
