Steering Column Trim, Removing And Installing: Removing
In vehicles with an electrically adjustable steering column, the following setting must be made prior to disconnecting the battery:
-- Move the steering wheel to the end stop in the lowest setting position.
-- Move the steering wheel to the end stop in the direction of the vehicle interior.
-- In vehicles with a manually adjustable steering column, release the steering wheel adjustment locking lever and pull out the steering wheel and press it down.
-- Remove the airbag unit on the driver side. Refer to DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to appropriate service information. .
-- Pry the steering column trim upper part -1- out of the mounts using the : 3409 .
-- Unclip the steering column trim upper part from the gap cover -2-.
Vehicles with manually adjustable steering columns:
-- Release the steering wheel adjustment locking lever -4-.
-- Remove the two screws -1- (1.5 Nm ).
-- Remove the bolt -2- (1.5 Nm ).
-- Detach the steering column trim lower part -3- from the steering column.
Vehicles with power steering columns:
-- Remove the two screws -1- (1.5 Nm ).
-- Remove the bolt -2- (1.5 Nm ).
-- Detach the steering column trim lower part -3- from the steering column and disconnect the harness connector.
