Selector Lever Cable, Removing And Installing, Vehicles Through 05/2012: Installing

-- Insert the selector lever cable in shift unit -1-.

-- Rest the entire surface of sleeve -2- on the shift unit.

-- Install the transfer case. Refer to TRANSFER CASE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Carefully install the selector lever cable ball head -1- on the lever/selector shaft. Do not bend the lever/selector shaft when doing this. Otherwise shifting can no longer be adjusted precisely.

-- Replace clip -3-.

-- Rest the entire surface of the boot -arrow- on the shift unit.

-- Install the gearshift mechanism. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
