Rear Driveshaft, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Lift the vehicle.
-- Remove the rear section of the exhaust system. Refer to appropriate service information. .
-- Remove the heat shield and the bracket fro the heat shield from the tunnel support, if equipped. Install the bolts -2- for the center bearing for the driveshaft hand-tight.
-- Remove the tunnel support.
-- Remove the transmission end balancer from the transfer case.
-- Mark the installed position of the driveshaft on the transfer case and rear final drive.
-- Remove the driveshaft from the transfer case and rear final drive pin using the pry lever -A-.
A circlip secures the driveshaft to the pin and can be pulled off with a forceful pull.
A second technician will be needed to remove the rear driveshaft so that it does not get damaged.
-- Remove the center support -1-.
-- Remove the front and rear driveshaft from the pin and remove them downward.
-- Lay driveshaft down fully extended and not bent.
