Left Engine Mount, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Position the front wheels so they are straight.
Danger of causing damage to electronic components.
- Complete the steps for disconnecting the battery.
-- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable -2-. Refer to BATTERY .
-- Remove the engine cover -arrows-.
-- Install the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A with the Engine Support - Supplement Kit Adapter 6:T40093/6 on the left and right suspension strut tower, as shown in the illustration.
-- Engage the Engine Support Bridge - Spindles:10-222A/11 on the engine lifting eyes.
-- Lightly pretension engine with spindles.
-- Remove the noise insulation -1 and 2-. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the left and right front wheels.
-- Remove the left and right front wheel housing liner. Refer to WHEEL HOUSING LINER .
-- Remove the left and right drive axles from the transmission flange shaft. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .
-- Remove the left and right bolt -1- and nut -3- and the brace -2-.
-- Remove the nut -arrow- on the right longitudinal member and free up the GND wires.
-- If installed: Disconnect the connector -1- Headlamp Range Control Sensor 1 -G233- electrical sensor -arrow- and free up electrical wiring.
-- Remove the left and right stabilizer bar bolt -1-.
Ignore -2 and 3-.
Vehicles with Hydraulic Power Steering
-- Remove the nut -1- from the power steering hydraulic line.
Ignore -arrows-.
Vehicles with Electro-Mechanical Power Steering
-- Release the safety catch -arrow-, push the retainer down and disconnect the connector from -2- from the Power Steering Control Module -J500-.
-- Disconnect the connector -1-.
-- Free up the wiring harness.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Remove the steering intermediate shaft from the steering gear push them upward. Refer to STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- from the ATF pipes.
-- Remove the left and right bolts -arrows- and leave the heat shield -1- in its installed position.
Vehicles with Hydraulic Power Steering
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the Servotronic Solenoid Valve -N119- and free up the electric wire.
Ignore item -2-.
-- Free up the power steering hydraulic fluid hose on the left side of the subframe.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Free up the wires on the right side of the subframe.
-- Disconnect the connector -3- from the Left Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N144-.
-- Remove bolts -1, 4- and -arrows-, the retaining plate -2- for the left engine mount remains in the installation position.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the Right Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N145-.
-- Remove the right engine mount bolt -1-.
Ignore items -3 and 4- and -arrow-.
-- Support the subframe using Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931 as shown in the illustration.
-- Mark the location of the subframe to the longitudinal members using a felt-tip pen.
-- Remove the left and right subframe bolts -1, 2 and 3- in a diagonal sequence.
The suspension components could be damaged.
- Do not rest the vehicle on its wheels if the subframe mount, the steering gear or the subframe crossbrace are not installed correctly.
-- Lower the subframe using the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931 just enough so that the left engine mount can be removed, while at the same time paying attention to the clearance for the left hydraulic oil hoses and the right electrical wires.
-- Remove the left engine mount.
