Engine, Securing On Engine And Transmission Holder: Procedure
- Engine/transmission subassembly removed; engine and transmission separated. Refer to ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, SEPARATING .
- Engine secured with Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set Articulated Joint Support:VAS6131/13-7 .
Vehicles with Hydraulic Power Steering
Place a cloth underneath to soak up any escaping power steering fluid.
-- Disconnect the power steering hydraulic pipe -arrow-.
Vehicles with Electro-Mechanical Power Steering
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the Power Steering Control Module -J500-.
-- Free up the wiring harness.
Ignore item -2- and -arrow-.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Engage the Lifting Tackle:3033 on the engine lifting eyes and on the shop crane as shown in the illustration.
-- Tension engine slightly with shop crane, do not raise.
-- Disconnect the connector -3- from the Left Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N144-.
-- Remove the bolt -4- for the left engine mount.
Ignore items -1 and 2 - and -arrows-.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the Right Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N145-.
-- Remove the right engine mount bolt -1-.
Ignore items -3 and 4- and -arrow-.
-- Remove the Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set Articulated Joint Support:VAS6131/13-7 from the engine.
-- Raise engine from engine carrier.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the left engine support.
-- Remove the bolt -arrows- and the heat shield -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the right engine support -1-.
-- Secure the starter on the engine.
-- Secure the engine with Engine/Transmission Holder - Universal Mounting:VAS6095/1 and Engine/Transmission Holder - V8 Engine Bracket :VAS6095/1-6A on the Engine And Transmission Holder:VAS6095 to 40 Nm as shown in the illustration.
