Engine And Transmission, Separating: Procedure
- Engine/transmission assembly removed and placed on the Scissor Lift Table:VAS6131B .
-- Remove the left and right drive axles from the transmission flange shaft.
-- Remove the connectors from the bracket, disconnect them and then free up the wires.
2 - for Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 -G108-
3 - for Oxygen Sensor 2 after Catalytic Converter -G131-
Ignore items -1 and 4-.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and the oil dipstick tube -1-.
-- Remove the bolt -1-, press the tab off the transmission and tilt it back in direction of -arrow-.
-- Remove the nuts in the following sequence -6 to 1- and then remove the exhaust manifold together with the catalytic converter and left front muffler.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the drive axle heat shield.
-- Remove the nut -2-.
Ignore item -1-.
Catch any leaking ATF with a cloth.
Vehicles through 05/2010
-- Remove the clamp -1- and the ATF pipe.
-- Remove the bolt -4- and then remove the ATF pipe -3- from the transmission and move it to the side.
-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS6122 .
Ignore item -2-.
-- Remove the bolt -1-.
Ignore item -2- and -arrow-.
Vehicles from 06/2010
-- Remove the clamp -1- and the ATF pipe.
-- Remove the bolt -4- and then remove the ATF pipe -3- from the transmission and move it to the side.
-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS6122 .
Ignore item -2-.
Vehicles with Electro-Mechanical Power Steering:
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the Power Steering Control Module -J500-.
-- Free up the wiring harness.
Ignore item -2- and -arrow-.
Vehicles with Hydraulic Power Steering
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the Servotronic Solenoid Valve -N119-, if equipped.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the Engine Speed Sensor -G28-.
-- Free up the wires.
-- Disconnect the connector -arrow- and free up the wire.
There is a risk of destroying the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (Mechatronic) with static discharge.
- Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands.
-- To discharge static electricity, touch the transmission housing (without wearing gloves).
-- Turn the twist lock counter-clockwise in direction of -arrow- and disconnect the connector from the transmission.
-- Free up the wiring harness on the transmission.
-- Remove electrical connectors from bracket and disconnect:
2 -for Oxygen Sensor after Three Way Catalytic Converter -G130-
3 - for Heated Oxygen Sensor -G39-
Ignore items -1 and 4-.
-- Remove the bolt -2-.
Ignore item -1-.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.
-- Remove the nuts in the following sequence -6 to 1- and then remove the exhaust manifold together with the catalytic converter and right front muffler.
-- Remove the lower cover -1- from the transmission in direction of -arrow-.
-- Position the Crankshaft Turning Tool:T40257 onto the Wrench - 21mm:T40263 .
-- Attach the Crankshaft Turning Tool:T40257 to the bolts on the vibration damper.
- The semi-round countersink -arrow A- on the Crankshaft Turning Tool:T40257 must face the semi-round countersink -arrow B- on the vibration damper.
Ignore the notch on the Crankshaft Turning Tool:T40257 .
-- Counterhold the crankshaft to loosen the clutch module bolt using the Crankshaft Turning Tool:T40272 and the Wrench - 21mm:T40263 .
When mounting, turn the crankshaft only in the direction of engine rotation -arrow-.
-- Remove the 6 clutch module bolts -arrow- by turning the crankshaft 60° in the direction of engine rotation.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and push the starter heat shield slightly to the side.
Ignore item -2-.
-- Equip the Scissor Lift Table:VAS6131B with the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set:VAS6131/10 and Scissor Lift Table - A8 Set:VAS6131/11 , and Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set Articulated Joint Support:VAS6131/13-7 as follows:
The other attachments remain unchanged.

-- Secure the Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set Articulated Joint Support:VAS6131/13-7 to the engine in the threaded hole with a M10 x 65 bolt on the front to the right, as shown in the illustration.
-- Tighten the Scissor Lift Table - Q7 Set Articulated Joint Support:VAS6131/13-7 to 20 Nm on the scissor lift table.
-- Attach the mounting elements from the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set:VAS6131/10 and Scissor Lift Table - A8 Set:VAS6131/11 on the front of the transmission, as shown in illustration.
-- Turn the left and right spindles until the Scissor Lift Table - A8 Set - Mounting :VAS6131/11-4 are firmly touching the transmission.
-- Attach mounting element base plates to Scissor Lift Table:VAS6131B and tighten to 20 Nm.
-- Remove the starter bolts -1 and 2-.
-- Press the starter off the transmission and leave it in the installation position.
-- Remove the remaining bolts -3 through 10- that attach the engine to the transmission.
Vehicles with electro-mechanical power steering: Counterhold the nut next to the bolt -7-.
Ignore item -A-.
-- Loosen the clamping screws -1- on sides of Scissor Lift Table:VAS6131B and pull the rear table top with the transmission toward rear -arrow-.
