Combination Valve, Checking For Function And Leaks: Procedure
- Vacuum lines and hose connections free of leaks.
- Vacuum lines not plugged.
-- Remove the affected throttle valve control module. Refer to THROTTLE VALVE CONTROL MODULE AND 2 -J338- / -J544-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
The left combination valve is illustrated.
-- Remove the vacuum hose -5- on the combination valve to be checked.
-- Disconnect the secondary air hose -3- by pressing the release buttons.
-- Connect the Hand Vacuum Pump: VAS6213 to the vacuum connection -1- for the combination valve to be checked.
-- Connect the hose -2- to the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) combination valve.
-- Blow lightly into assisting hose by mouth, do not use compressed air.
- The AIR combination valve must be closed and it must not be possible to blow through it.
-- Operate hand vacuum pump.
- The AIR combination valve must open and it must be possible to blow through it.
Ignore items -1, 2 and 4-.
-- If the AIR combination valve does not open, replace it. Refer to COMBINATION VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
