Radiator, Removing And Installing: Removing

NOTE:

If there are small impressions on the fins. Refer To COOLER AND CONDENSER ASSEMBLY .

-- Drain the coolant. Refer To COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove The Front Impact Member. Refer To IMPACT MEMBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install The Right Headlamp Housing Mount. Refer To OVERVIEW - HEADLAMPS / HEADLAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Open the clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose from the radiator.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

WARNING:

Danger of personal injury due to the coolant fan turning on by itself.

  • Disconnect the connectors before working near the fan shroud.

-- Disconnect the coolant fan connectors -1 and 2-, to do this, push the clamp to the rear -arrow- and push the release down.

-- Free up the wiring harness.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then remove the left and right air guide -1- from the air filter housing.

-- Unclip the left and right air guide -1-.

-- Release the retaining tabs in direction of -A arrows- and remove the left and right air ducts -1- upward in direction of -arrow B-.

-- Lift the clamps -1 and 2- and remove the right upper coolant hoses from the radiator.

Vehicles without Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

-- Remove the nuts -3- from the front bracket on the engine oil cooler.

-- Remove the nut -4- on the refrigerant line clamp.

NOTE:

Ignore items -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the nut -1- on the hose/line assembly clamp.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and tie up the front oil cooler to the right.

Vehicles with ACC

-- Remove the front engine oil cooler. Refer To ENGINE OIL COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, FRONT .

-- Remove the nuts -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then remove the bracket -3- for the front engine oil cooler.

-- Remove the nuts -2- and then remove the bracket -1- for the front engine oil cooler.

-- Remove the nut -3- on the refrigerant line clamp.

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit:SMN372500  under the separating point.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and the ATF pipes.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS6122  .

NOTE:

The installation location is shown with the engine removed.

Vehicles with Hydraulic Power Steering

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the hydraulic fluid cooler -1- to the left and then swivel it upward.

Condenser with an Angled Connection for the Refrigerant Pipe

-- Have a second technician release the retaining clamps -1- in direction of -arrow A- and remove the condenser -2- upward out of the mounts on the radiator -B arrows-.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the condenser and refrigerant lines and hoses.

  • Do not stretch, kink or bend refrigerant lines and hoses.

-- Tip The Condenser With The Lines Connected Forward.

Condenser With An Straight Connection For The Refrigerant Pipe

-- Remove The Condenser. Refer To CONDENSER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the left and right bolts -1- and remove the radiator console with the radiator from the lock carrier in direction of -arrow-.

-- Lower the radiator slightly.

-- Release the left and right radiator retaining pins and remove by pulling upward in direction of -arrows-.

-- Remove the radiator.

-- Press the fan shroud left and right locking tabs at the same time in direction of -arrow- and remove the fan shroud upward from the radiator.
