Coolant, Draining And Filling: Draining

WARNING:

Risk Of Scalding Due To Hot Steam And Hot Coolant.

  • The Coolant System Is Under Pressure When The Engine Is Warm.
  • Cover The Coolant Reservoir Cap With A Cloth And Then Open It Slowly To Release The Pressure.

-- Open The Coolant Reservoir Cap.

-- Remove The Front Noise Insulation -1-. Refer To NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

NOTE:

Collect escaping coolant in a clean container for disposal or reuse.

-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray:VAS6208  under engine.

-- Remove the drain plug -arrow- on the front coolant hose and drain the coolant.

-- Remove the drain plug -arrow- on the Map Controlled Engine Cooling Thermostat -F265- and drain the coolant.

-- Audi RS4/RS5 Coupe: Loosen the clamp -arrow-, remove the coolant hose from the After-Run Coolant Pump -V51- and drain any remaining coolant.
