Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Lincoln Navigator. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The EPAS gear is very susceptible to water, moisture, dust, rust and other contaminants. If a damaged boot is suspected the inner tie rods and steering rack should be inspected for water ingress, corrosion and contamination. If water ingress, corrosion or contamination is found a new EPAS gear should be installed.

New bellows boots and clamps must be installed whenever they are removed. To avoid unnecessary repairs address all other known concerns, DTCs and customer concerns before removing the bellows boots and inspecting the steering gear.

This test generates a RVC for a new PSCM when directed to do so from pinpoint test. A RVC is required to order a new PSCM and to document warranty billing for payment.
