Side Curtain Airbag: Removal

The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.

LH shown, RH similar unless otherwise noted.
- Remove the headliner. Refer to: Headliner .
- Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .

- Disconnect the side curtain airbag electrical connector.
- Remove the screw and the coat hook bracket.
- Remove the nuts and bolt along the A-pillar.
Torque
: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)

- Remove the nuts and bolt.

- LH side curtain airbag only.Remove the nut.
Torque
: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)
- Remove the nuts and bolt.

- Remove the bolts.

- Long wheel base vehicles only.Remove the bolt.
Torque
: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)
- Remove the bolts.
- Separate the front tether clip.

- Detach the side curtain airbag hangers from the A-pillar studs.
- Feed the side curtain airbag hanger out from between the A-pillar and the A-pillar bracket.
- Detach the side curtain airbag hangers.
- Slide the hanger up and out, disengaging the T-tab from the sheet metal.
- Detach the side curtain airbag hangers from the studs.
- LH side curtain airbag only.Detach the side curtain airbag hanger from the stud.
- Detach the side curtain airbag hangers.
- Long wheel base vehicles only.Slide the hanger up and out, disengaging the T-tab from the sheet metal.

- Detach the pin-type retainer.
- Rotate the top of the side curtain airbag away from the sheet metal, detach the retainer and remove the side curtain airbag.
