Front Door Latch: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel .
  2. Remove the exterior front door handle. Refer to: Exterior Front Door Handle .
  3. Remove the front door speaker.

    1. Disconnect the front door speaker electrical connector.
    2. Remove the screws and the front door speaker.

      Torque: 13 lb.in (1.5 Nm)

  4. Position the front door window glass to the three quarters down position.

    1. Connect the front door trim panel electrical connector.
    2. Position the front door window glass to the three quarters down position.
    3. Disconnect the front door trim panel electrical connector.

  5. Release the front door window glass and tape in the full up position.

    1. Release the front door window glass retaining clips. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
    2. Raise the front door window glass to the full up position.
    3. Tape the front door window glass in the full up position.

  6. Remove the adhesive cover from the rear half of the front door window regulator.

  7. Position the rear half of the front door window regulator aside.

    1. Remove the front door window regulator nuts.

      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    2. Position the rear half of the front door window regulator aside.

  8. Remove the screw from the exterior front door handle reinforcement.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  9. Remove the front door glass run and bracket bolt upper adhesive cover.

  10. Remove the front door glass run and bracket bolts.

    Torque: 19 lb.in (2.2 Nm)

  11. Remove the front door latch bolts.

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  12. Remove the front door latch.

    1. Disconnect the wiring harness routing clips.
    2. Disconnect the front door latch electrical connector.
    3. Route the interior front door handle cable through the inner door.
    4. Position the exterior front door handle electrical connector aside.
    5. Remove the front door latch.

  13. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Release the cable tension by turning the release screw until the handle lever releases from the stop.

    1. Turn the release screw until the handle lever releases from the stop.
    2. Release the handle lever from the stop.

  14. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement.

    1. Press the locking tab down.
    2. If equipped, disconnect the door lock cylinder rod. Detach the exterior front door handle reinforcement.
    3. Remove the cable from the routing clip.
    4. Remove the cable eyelet from the lever.
    5. Detach the cable from the exterior front door handle reinforcement.

  15. Remove the front door glass run and bracket.

    1. Release the retaining tabs on the front door glass run and bracket.
    2. Remove the front door glass run and bracket.

  16. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement to front door latch cable access cover.
