Symptom Chart: Glass, Frames and Mechanisms

Diagnostics in this article assume a certain skill level and knowledge of Ford-specific diagnostic practices. REFER to: Diagnostic Methods .

Condition Possible Sources Actions
All power windows are inoperative from the master window control switch Wiring, terminals or connectors
Master window control switch
DDM
DIAGNOSE any related DDM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) first. REFER to the DDM DTC Chart.
If there are no related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present, INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to:Driver Door Window Control Switch .
Both rear passenger power windows only operate from the master window control switch Lock-out switch in the LOCK position
Master window control switch
DIAGNOSE any related DDM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) first. REFER to DTC Chart: Driver Door Module (DDM) .
If there are no related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present, INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to:Driver Door Window Control Switch .
A single power window is inoperative/does not operate correctly - LH front Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test C 
A single power window is inoperative/does not operate correctly - RH front Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test D 
A single power window is inoperative/does not operate correctly - LH rear Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test F 
A single power window is inoperative/does not operate correctly - RH rear Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test G 
The one-touch up/down feature is inoperative Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test E 
The one-touch up feature does not operate correctly - window bounces back Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test E 
The door window glass does not travel to the fully open position Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test E 
The global open/close function is inoperative Global open/close not enabled in the message center
RKE transmitter concern
Door window regulator motor not initialized
VERIFY the global open/close feature (Remote Open/Remote Close) is enabled in the message center. REFER to the Owner's Literature.
VERIFY the RKE lock/unlock function operates correctly using all of the RKE transmitters. REFER to:HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS . to diagnose any inoperative RKE transmitter(s).
INITIALIZE the inoperative door window regulator motor(s). REFER to: Power Door Window Initialization .
The defrost system is inoperative Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test A 
The defrost system does not shut off automatically Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test B 
The defrost system does not respond to touchscreen command only Refer to the Pinpoint Test VERIFY the rear window defrost operation using the instrument panel rear window defrost switch. If the rear window defrost is still inoperative, GO to Pinpoint Test A  If the rear window defrost operates, DIAGNOSE the inoperative touchscreen system. REFER to:INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION (1 OF 2) or INFORMATION SYSTEM AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS - GENERAL INFORMATION (2 OF 2) .
