Wheel Knuckle: Removal

NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.
  1. Remove the rear wheel bearing and wheel hub. Refer to: Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub .
  2. Remove the 3 bolts and the brake disc shield.

  3. NOTE: If equipped with dynamic suspension.

    Remove the ride height sensor arm bracket bolt and position the bracket aside.

  4. Remove and discard the upper arm-to-wheel knuckle nut.

  5. Separate the upper ball joint from the wheel knuckle. Use Special Service Tool: 204-592/1 Adapter for 204-592.

  6. Remove and discard the lower ball joint nut.

  7. Separate the lower ball joint from the wheel knuckle. Use Special Service Tool: 204-592/1 Adapter for 204-592.

  8. Remove and discard the bolt and disconnect the toe link from the wheel knuckle.

  9. NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the stud from turning while removing the nut.

    1. Remove and discard the 2 bolts and disconnect the lower trailing arm from the wheel knuckle.
    2. Using the hex-holding feature, remove and discard the stabilizer bar link nut and disconnect the link from the wheel knuckle.

    1. Remove and discard the upper trailing arm-to-wheel knuckle bolt and position the upper trailing arm.
    2. Remove the bracket bolt and the bracket.
    3. Remove the wheel knuckle.
