Left Flange Shaft, Removing And Installing: Removing
- The transmission is installed.
-- Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Install the left drive axle. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .
-- To do this, remove the nut -2- and bolt -1-.
-- Remove the upper control arm upward from the wheel bearing housing in direction of -arrows-.
Do not expand the slots in the wheel bearing housing.
-- Tilt the wheel bearing housing to the side.
-- Support the control arm with the :VAS6931 .
-- Loosen the shock absorber threaded connection -3-.
Ignore items -1 and 2-.
-- Remove bolts -1 and 3-.
-- Remove the coupling rod -2-.
-- Bind the wheel bearing housing with wire -arrow- to the side.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the flange shaft mounting bracket.
-- Remove the lower cover -arrow- from the transmission.
Risk of damaging the seal between the final drive and the transmission housing when removing the flange shaft.
- If the flange shaft -arrow- is not held in a central position, the seal on the flange shaft spline will be damaged.
- A seal must be replaced if it is damaged.
-- To avoid damaging the seal, support and guide the flange shaft out of the opening in the transmission.
-- Remove the left flange shaft from the transmission -arrow A-.
Ignore item -1, 3- and -arrow B-.
