Steering movement is transferred directly from the steering wheel to the code washer steering angle sensor. There are cast guide rods located on the steering wheel hub that fit into guide grooves on the code washer steering angle sensor.

By this concept, the tolerances are halved by the steering angle sensor when the steering movement is measured. The steering movement used to be transferred from the steering wheel to the steering tube and from there to the code washer steering angle sensor.

Additional tolerance minimization is achieved by positioning the switch module with the Steering Column Electronics Control Module -J527- on the crash tube with a fitted key. The center steering is indicated at the factory by markings on the steering wheel hub and steering tube.
