Camshaft, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the camshaft timing chains from the camshafts, refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .

-- Remove the brake booster vacuum pump to remove the camshafts in the left cylinder head.

-- To remove the camshafts in the right cylinder head, remove the high pressure pump and pump motor housing, refer to HIGH PRESSURE PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the camshaft adjuster valves.

-- Loosen the guide frame bolts in the following sequence: -21 through 1-.

NOTE:

The illustration shows the guide frame for the left cylinder head.

-- Carefully remove the guide frame and lay it on a soft surface on the workbench.

-- Remove the Camshaft Clamp T40133.

-- Mark the camshafts and then remove them.
