Overview - Crankshaft

NOTE:
Secure the engine to the Engine and Transmission Holder VAS6095 when working on the engine, refer to ENGINE, SECURING ON ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HOLDER .
- Cylinder Block
- Bearing Shell for Cylinder Block
- With lubricating groove
- Lubricate
- Replace any worn bearing shells
- Crankshaft bearing shells identification (classification), refer to MAIN BEARING SHELLS ALLOCATION .
- Crankshaft
- After removal, place in such a way it does not rest on sensor wheel -8- and damages it
- lubricate
- Axial clearance, refer to CRANKSHAFT, MEASURING AXIAL CLEARANCE .
- Radial clearance, refer to CRANKSHAFT, MEASURING RADIAL CLEARANCE .
- Do not turn crankshaft when measuring radial play
- Use old bolts to measure radial play.
- Crankshaft Dimensions, refer to CRANKSHAFT DIMENSIONS .
- Bearing Shell for Bearing Cap
- Without lubricating groove
- Lubricate
- Replace any worn bearing shells
- Crankshaft bearing shells identification (classification), refer to MAIN BEARING SHELLS ALLOCATION .
- Bolt
- Replacing
- Use old bolt to measure radial play
- Tightening sequence, refer to Fig 2
- Bearing Cap
- Bearing cap 1: belt pulley side
- Retaining tabs of bearing shells and cylinder block/bearing caps must lie above one another
- Bolt
- 10 Nm + 90° turn
- Replacing
- Replace sensor wheel every time bolts are loosened, refer to SENSOR WHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Sensor Wheel
- For Engine Speed Sensor -G28-
- Only possible to install in one position - Bores are offset
- Replace sensor wheel every time bolts are loosened
- Removing and installing, refer to SENSOR WHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Thrust Washers
- Lubricate
- For bearing 3
- Bolt
- Replacing
- Tightening sequence, refer to Fig 2
-- Tighten the crankshaft bolts in the sequence -1 to 5-.
-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 10- and hand-tighten -arrows A-.
-- Pre-tighten the bolts -1 through 10- to 65 Nm.
-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 10- a 90° additional turn using a rigid wrench.
-- Tighten the bolts -arrows A- to 20 Nm.
-- Tighten the bolts -arrows A- 90° further using a rigid wrench.
