Camshaft, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the camshaft timing chains from the camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .

-- To remove the camshafts in the left cylinder head, remove the brake booster vacuum pump. Refer to OVERVIEW - VACUUM PUMP .

-- To remove the camshafts in the right cylinder head, remove the high pressure pump and pump motor housing. Refer to OVERVIEW - HIGH PRESSURE PUMP .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the camshaft adjuster valves.

-- Loosen the guide frame bolts in the following sequence: -21 through 1-.

-- Carefully remove the guide frame and lay it on a soft surface on the workbench.

-- Remove the Camshaft Clamp T40133.

-- Mark the camshafts and then remove them.
