Camshaft, Measuring Axial Clearance

Dial Gauge - 0-3mm VAS6080

Procedure

-- Remove the camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Mark the allocation of the roller rocker lever and the hydraulic adjusting elements so they can be installed again.

-- If necessary, remove the roller rocker levers with the hydraulic adjusting elements and place them on a clean surface.

-- Secure the Dial Gauge Holder VW387with the Dial Gauge - 0-10mm VAS6079 on the cylinder head ash shown in the illustration.

-- Determine the axial play.

Axial play: 0.100 to 0.191 mm.
