1. Cylinder Head Gasket
   • Replacing. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Installed position: the part number faces the cylinder head
   • Change the coolant and engine oil after replacing
2. Cylinder Head
   • Removing. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Refer to Fig 4
   • Refer to Fig 5
   • Installing. Refer to Installing .
   • Change the coolant and engine oil after replacing
3. Bolt
   • Tightening specification. Refer to OVERVIEW - VACUUM PUMP .
4. Vacuum Pump
   • Removing and installing. Refer to OVERVIEW - VACUUM PUMP .
5. O-Ring
   • Replace
6. Bolt
   • 20 Nm
7. Engine Lifting Eye
8. Camshaft Position Sensor, Intake Camshaft
   • Cylinder bank 1 (right) Camshaft Position Sensor -G40-
   • Cylinder bank 2 (left) Camshaft Position Sensor 2 -G163-
9. Bolt
   • 9 Nm
10. Bolt
    • Loosening procedure. Refer to Removing 
    • Replace
    • Loosening procedure. Refer to Installing 
    • Tighten in 3 stages:

      -- Tighten to 40 Nm

      -- Tighten an additional 90°

      -- Tighten an additional 90°

11. Ignition Coil
    • Remove with Puller - Ignition Coil T40039
12. Cylinder Head Cover
    • Removing and Installing: left. Refer to LEFT CYLINDER HEAD COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING , right refer to RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING 
13. Seal
    • Replace if damaged or leaking
14. Cap
15. Bolt
    • Replace if the seal is damaged
    • Tightening specifications. Refer to Fig 2 and Fig 3.
16. Bolt
    • Tightening specification. Refer to IGNITION COILS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
17. Connector Strip
    • For the ignition coils
18. Cylinder Head Cover Gasket
    • Replace if damaged or leaking
19. Bolt
    • 2.5 Nm
    • Insert with sealant.
20. Solenoid Valve for Camshaft Adjustment - Exhaust Side
    • Cylinder bank 1 (right) Exhaust Camshaft Control Valve 1 -N318-
    • Cylinder bank 2 (left) Exhaust Camshaft Adjustment Valve 2 -N319-
21. Solenoid Valve for Camshaft Adjustment - Intake Side
    • Cylinder bank 1 (right) Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205-
    • Cylinder bank 2 (left) Camshaft Adjustment Valve 2 -N208-
22. O-Rings
    • Replace
23. O-Ring
    • Replace
24. Bolt
    • 9 Nm
25. Camshaft Position Sensor, Exhaust Camshaft
    • Cylinder bank 1 (right) Camshaft Position Sensor 3 -G300-
    • Cylinder bank 2 (left) Camshaft Position Sensor 4 -G301-

-- Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm in the following sequence: -1 to 12-.

-- Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm in the following sequence: -1 to 12-.

-- Check the cylinder head in several places for distortion using a straight edge and a feeler gauge.

• Maximum permitted distortion: 0.05 mm.

Resurfacing cylinder head (face grinding) is only permissible to minimum dimension -a-.

• Minimum dimension -a- = 139.20 mm.

-- Tighten the bolt -arrow- to 9 Nm.
