Balance Shaft Sealing Ring, Replacing, Intake Side

CAUTION: This procedure contains mandatory replaceable parts. Refer to component overview prior to starting procedure.

Mandatory Replacement Parts

Bolt - Coolant pump toothed belt

Procedure

Remove the small coolant pipe. Refer to COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Remove the coolant pump toothed belt. Refer to COOLANT PUMP TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

TIP:

The drive wheel bolt has left-hand thread.

Remove the bolt -2- and then remove the drive wheel -1- for the coolant pump toothed belt.

Firmly press a screwdriver -1- on the surface of the sealing ring -2- in direction of -arrow B-.
Pry out the sealing ring in direction of -arrow A-.
Clean the contact and sealing surface.

Coat the sealing surface of the balance shaft -2- with transmission fluid.
Push the sealing ring -1- onto the balance shaft.

"Luftseite" or ("Outside") -arrow- must be readable from the outside.

TIP:

The drive wheel bolt has left-hand thread.

Mount the -T10353- or -T10353/1- on the seal -1- and then tighten it all the way into the cylinder block with the bolt -2-. Be careful not to tilt the seal when doing this.
Install the coolant pump toothed belt. Refer to COOLANT PUMP TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Install the small coolant pipe. Refer to COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
