Overview - Clutch Hydraulics

Clutch master or slave cylinder, removal and installation information. Refer to CLUTCH MASTER OR CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION INFORMATION .

Clutch Slave Cylinder
- Do not actuate after removing the clutch pedal.
- Removing and installing. Refer to CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- After working on hydraulic clutch mechanism, bleed the system. Refer to CLUTCH MECHANISM, BLEEDING .
- Brake fluid must not come into contact with the transmission.
Bleed Screw
- 5.5 Nm
- Follow the work sequence when bleeding. Refer to CLUTCH MECHANISM, BLEEDING .
- A broken bleed screw can be removed with a 3 mm hex key.
Dust Cap
Hose/Line Assembly
- With frequency modulator (vibration damper)
  NOTE:
  The pipe-hose line in the Audi A5, through VIN 8T-8-000100 is a single piece and does not have a frequency modulator.
- Disconnecting and connecting. Refer to Fig 2
Clip
Grommet
O-Rings
- Replace if damaged
- Coat with brake fluid before installing
Supply Hose
- For the clutch master cylinder
- With integrated grommets
- Replace the supply hose of the grommets are damaged
Brake Fluid Reservoir
Clip
- To remove the hose/line assembly, pull it out. Refer to Fig 2
Clutch Master Cylinder
- Removing and installing. Refer to CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Lubricating the bearing lug for the pressure rod.
- After working on hydraulic clutch mechanism, bleed the system. Refer to CLUTCH MECHANISM, BLEEDING .
Line
- Disconnecting and connecting. Refer to Fig 2
Bracket
- For the pipe line
- Mounted on the transmission
Bolt
- 20 Nm
O-Ring
- Replace if damaged
- Coat with brake fluid before installing
Clip
- To remove the hose/line assembly, pull it out. Refer to Fig 2
Bolt
- 20 Nm
- Clutch slave cylinder to transmission

Separating

-- Release the clip -A- with a screwdriver and pull it all the way out.

-- Remove the pipe/hose line.

Connecting

NOTE:

If damaged, replace the O-ring.

-- Push the clip -A- all the way in.

-- Push the pipe/hose assembly into the connection until the assembly audibly engages.

-- Pull on the hose/line assembly to make sure it is secure.
