Trigger wheel for speedometer vehicle speed sensor -G22-, removing and installing

Removing 

• Transmission installed

• Partially remove front part of exhaust system.

• 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS for 4.2 LITER V8 5V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BHF

• Remove shield, if installed, from underneath transmission.

• If installed, remove splash plate above left drive axle -1- (arrows).
• Unbolt drive axle from flanged shaft.
• Place drip tray underneath transmission.

• Remove fastening screw -A- for flanged shaft -B-.
• Pull out flanged shaft.
• Pull out flanged shaft seal -C- with VW 681.
• Remove speedometer vehicle speed sensor. Refer to Speedometer vehicle speed sensor -G22-, removing and installing .

Remove speedometer trigger wheel -D-:

• Lever out the trigger wheel from the grooves in the differential at the drive pegs -arrows- on alternate sides.

Installing 

Installation is carried out in the reverse order to removal, noting the following:

The drive pegs -arrows- of the trigger wheel -D- must engage in the grooves of the differential.

• Drive in seal -C- for flanged shaft and install flanged shaft.
