Clutch system, bleeding

Brake system brake filler and bleeder unit VAS 5234

Brake fluid specification:

Refer to 47 - BRAKES - HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS

NOTE:

Open bleeder valve before switching on bleeding equipment.
Make sure no brake fluid escapes onto transmission when performing subsequent work.
Bleed system after working on hydraulic clutch mechanism.
Before bleeding the system pull out clutch pedal and fill brake fluid reservoir with brake fluid up to "max".

Connect brake system brake filler and bleeder unit VAS 5234, but do not switch on at this point.
Remove sound insulation below transmission, if installed.

Attach bleeder hose -A- to slave cylinder (arrow) and open bleeder valve.
Connect bleeder hose to pressure hose of collecting bottle.
Then switch on bleeding appliance and allow approx. 100 cm3 of brake fluid to drain out.

Working pressure 2.5 bar

NOTE: Make sure bleed hose is correctly installed when bleeding.

Tighten bleeder valve to 4.5 Nm.
Press clutch pedal several times following completion of bleeding process.
Bleed system again if necessary.
