• Lift cover for center console upward -arrows-.

• Release connector piece -1- in direction of arrow and pull off shift lever knob together with shift lever cover upward.

• Lift cover off -1- first in direction of arrow -A- and then pull out in direction of arrow -B-.
• Remove bolts -arrows C- and then pull ashtray -2- from center console

• Lift out damping washer -1- and noise insulation -2-.

• Remove noise insulation for shift lever housing -arrows-.

• Remove securing nuts -arrows- for shift lever housing.

This lowers the shift lever housing.

• Detach push rod, by removing hex socket -head bolt -2-.
• Remove selector rod, by removing hex socket -head bolt -3-.
• Detach complete rear push rod - from shift lever housing -arrows-.
• Remove shift lever with rear push rod - from shift lever housing.

Installing 

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, note the following:

• Adjust gear selector mechanism. Refer to Shift mechanism, adjusting .

• Place shift lever knob together with shift lever cover onto shift lever and turn connector piece -1- in direction of arrow till it stops.
