Drivers Seat Height Adjustment Motor V245 or V246, removing and installing

Removing
CAUTION:
- Observe safety precautions for work on airbags → Airbag safety precautions .
- Before handling airbag units (e.g. disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "electrostatically discharge". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.
- Remove seat → Seat, removing and installing .
- Attach seat to Fixture For Seat Repair VAS 6136.
- Remove tunnel side trim → Sill side trim and assembly cover, removing and installing .
- Remove tunnel side trim panel → Tunnel side trim panel, removing and installing .
- Remove front backrest → Front backrest, removing and installing .

- Disconnect electrical connector - 4 - on Drivers Seat Height Adjustment Motor V245 - 2 - or Front Passenger s Seat Height Adjustment Motor V246.
- Disconnect seat pan upper frame - 1 - from lower frame - 3 - → Seat pan, disassembling and assembling .
- Remove seat pan upper frame with cover and upholstery from lower frame.

- Remove bolts - 2 -.
- Remove Drivers Seat Height Adjustment Motor V245 - 1 - or Front Passenger s Seat Height Adjustment Motor V246 toward center of seat from seat pan lower frame - 3 -.
Installing
Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

- Ensure clip - A - and plastic toothed segment collar - 2 - as well as locking pins - B arrows - are inserted correctly in holes on fitting - 1 -.
- Ensure plastic toothed segment - 2 - is clipped to fitting - 1 - correctly.
Plastic toothed segment collar - arrow C - must contact fitting - 1 - evenly.
- Ensure locking pins - A arrows - are inserted correctly in holes - B arrows - on link plate - 1 -.
NOTE:
- Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
- Switch on ignition.
CAUTION:
Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K75 indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B.
