Front Passenger Airbag Unit With Igniter, Removing And Installing: Removing

Note the allocation of the airbag unit to the instrument panel. Refer to the Parts Information.

NOTE:

From 11/08/2010, igniter 2 shall be removed from all Rest of World vehicles except the USA.

-- Switch the ignition on.

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY .

-- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to GLOVE COMPARTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITHOUT KNEE AIRBAGS .

WARNING:

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.

-- Disconnect the ground connector -5-.

-- Disconnect the connectors -2- for the Front Passenger Airbag Igniter 2 -N132- and -6- for the Front Passenger Airbag Igniter 1 -N131-.

-- To do this, release the connector lock -3- using a small screwdriver -1- and remove the connector -2-.

-- Remove the nuts -1, 3, 4 and 7-.

-- Remove the front passenger airbag -8- downward.

WARNING:

Set the airbag down so the impact cushion faces upward.
