Torsion Bar, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING:

Follow all safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.

CAUTION:

Move the front seat as high up as possible. This reduces the spring force when removing and installing the torsion bar and the risk of damaging the threaded connections between the seat pan upper and lower frames.

-- Remove The Front Seat:

Standard seat and sport seat (manual). Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL .
Standard and Power Sport Seat, Comfort Seat and Super Sport Seat. Refer to POWER FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Bucket seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BUCKET SEAT .

-- Attach the front seat to the :VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .

-- Remove the sill-side trim:

Standard seat and manual Sport seat. Refer to SILL-SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, MANUAL STANDARD/SPORT SEATS .
Standard and Power Sport Seat, Comfort Seat and Super Sport Seat. Refer to SILL-SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER STANDARD SEAT, WITH OR WITHOUT MEMORY FUNCTION .
Bucket seat. Refer to SILL-SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BUCKET SEAT .

-- Remove the tunnel-side trim. Refer to TUNNEL-SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD SEAT, SPORT SEAT, SUPER SPORT SEAT . Refer to TUNNEL-SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BUCKET SEAT for bucket seats.

-- Remove The Front Backrest:

Standard seat and sport seat (manual). Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, STANDARD SEAT/SPORT SEAT/SUPER SPORT SEAT .
Standard and Power Sport Seat, Comfort Seat and Super Sport Seat. Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, POWER STANDARD SEAT .
Bucket seat. Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BUCKET SEAT .

WARNING:

The Torsion Bar Exhibits Considerable Spring Force. Always Follow The Points Below To Avoid Accidents:

Always remove and install the torsion bar in the sequence described and only using the tools specified.
Never use pliers and other levers.
Do not stand directly in front of the torsion bar when removing and installing it. Stand off to the side.

-- Prevent the :2024 A /1 using the M10x30 bolt -3- and nut from spreading.

-- Position the :3145 with the :2024 A /1 on the torsion bar -1-.

2 - Seat Pan

-- Carefully rotate the torsion bar -1- with a screwdriver until it disengages from the oblong hole -arrow- on the seat pan.

-- Release the tension on the torsion bar and remove it from the seat pan -2-.

-- Pry out the bearing -1- from the guide on the seat pan using a flat-head screwdriver -2-.
