Impact Absorber, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With Trailer Hitch: Removing

-- Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the trailer hitch outlet. Refer to TRAILER HITCH .

-- Free up the electrical wire spiral clip -1-.

NOTE:

Use a soapy solution if necessary make removal easier.

-- Disconnect the electrical connector on the Radio Frequency Controlled Clock Receiver -J489- -2-, if equipped.

NOTE:

If the impact member -3- is replaced, the Radio Frequency Controlled Clock Receiver -J489- must be removed. Refer to CLOCK .

-- Remove the tie downs. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM PANELS .

-- Loosen the left and right luggage compartment side trim panel. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM PANELS .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the impact bar -3-.
