Starter, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 2.7L And 3.0L TDI Engine And DSG Transmission: Removing

-- With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CAED, CAEB, CPMB, CPMA] .

-- Remove the generator. Refer to GENERATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH 2.7L AND 3.0L TDI ENGINE AND DSG TRANSMISSION .

-- Remove the right engine mount. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

Vehicles With Engine Generation I:

-- Remove the bolts -1- and -2-.

-- Press the lower right coolant pipe to the side.

All Vehicles:

-- Remove the nut -1- and free up the ground wire on the right engine support.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and the right engine support.

-- Remove the bolts -1- and -4-.

-- Disconnect the connector -3- by sliding the retainer back and pressing the release down.

-- Disconnect the wire -2- from the starter.

-- Remove the starter.
