Cylinder Head Cover, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Disconnect the vacuum hose to the vacuum reservoir -2-.

-- Remove the wiring connector -1-.

-- Remove the high pressure fuel lines -2- and the overflow oil line -3-.

Only for Removing the Left Cylinder Head Cover: 

-- Remove the engine cover bracket -1-, the bolts -arrows- and the intake manifold upper section.

Continued for Both Sides:

-- Lift the tab -1-, turn the oil filler tube counterclockwise in direction of -arrow- and remove the tube.

-- Remove the wiring harness bracket -5- from the cylinder head cover.

-- Disconnect the connectors -1 through 4- on the high pressure reservoir (rail element) and the injectors.

-- Free up the wiring harness.

-- Pull the release pins upward -arrow- and remove the return line connections from the injectors.

-- Mark the assignment of the high pressure lines to the injectors.

-- Loosen the high pressure line union nuts -1 through 6- with the Torque Wrench 1331 Insert - Open Jaw - 19mm:VAG1331/5  or Hydraulic Line Socket - 14mm:3150  and the Union Nut Socket:T40055  .

-- Remove high pressure lines.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the injector covers.

-- Pull the covers upward and turn them ¹ /₄ turn (90°).

-- Remove the injectors in direction of -arrows-.

-- Remove the injectors using the Puller - Unit Injector:T10055  and Puller - Unit Injector - Adapter 1:T10055/1  .

-- Loosen the cylinder head cover bolts -arrows- diagonally, starting from outside and working toward the inside.

-- Remove the bolts and the cylinder head cover.
