Camshaft Adjuster Valves, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the intake manifold upper section. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the cylinder head cover. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

NOTE:

Mark the connector assignment to the component before disconnecting the connectors.

-- Remove the following connectors:

-- Free up the wiring harness.

-- Remove the nut -A- and bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the vacuum pump. Refer to MECHANICAL VACUUM PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Unscrew the retaining bolts -arrows- from the cover and pry off the cover.

CAUTION:
  • Carefully cover lower chain compartment so no parts can fall in.
  • Do not completely remove camshaft adjustment valve securing bolts so that valve is not tilted when removed.

-- Loosen the bolts on the camshaft adjustment valves approximately 3 mm (5 turns) -arrows- using the :T10072  .

-- Pull Camshaft Adjustment Valve -- out of seal seat in control housing against loosened bolts.

-- Remove the bolts and pull the Camshaft Adjuster -- out of the control housing.
