Installing Camshaft Adjuster

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg, 2013 Volkswagen Touareg, 2012 Volkswagen Touareg, and 2011 Volkswagen Touareg. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Conditions:

First install camshaft adjuster for intake camshaft as follows:

NOTE:

The camshaft adjusters are locked in their >>rest position<<. Therefore sensor wheel cannot be rotated when adjusting the valve timing. If locking mechanism in its >>rest state<< is not engaged (locked) turn adjuster in both directions by hand until it locks. If that is not possible, replaced camshaft adjuster.

The camshaft adjusters can be attached to the camshaft mount in only one position -arrows-. This is due to the alignment pin.
