Camshaft, Removing And Installing: Removing

• Engine/Transmission Assembly Removed And Placed On The Scissor Lift Table:VAS6131B  .

-- Remove The Affected Camshaft Timing Chain From Camshafts. Refer To CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .

-- Disconnect The Connectors:

1. On The Camshaft Adjustment Valve 2 -N208-
2. On The Left High Pressure Pump
3. On The Camshaft Position Sensor 2 -G163-

-- Remove The Bolt -4- And Free Up The Wiring Harness.

-- Remove The High Pressure Pump. Refer To HIGH PRESSURE PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove The Crankshaft Locking Pin:T40227  .

-- Position The Crankshaft Turning Tool:T40257  onto The Wrench - 21 mm:T40263  .

-- Attach the Crankshaft Turning Tool:T40257  to the bolts on the vibration damper.

• The Semi-Round Countersink -Arrow A- On The Crankshaft Turning Tool:T40257  Must Face The Semi-Round Countersink -Arrow B- On The Vibration Damper.

-- Turn The Crankshaft 40° Opposite The Direction Of Engine Rotation Out Of "TDC" -arrow-.

-- Remove The Camshaft Clamp:T40070  -arrows-.

-- Loosen And Remove The Bolts In The Following Sequence: -24 to 1-.

-- Loosen And Remove The Guide Frame Carefully From The Adhesive.

-- Mark The Camshafts So They Can Be Installed Later And Remove Them.
