Camshaft, Measuring Radial Clearance: Procedure

-- Remove The Camshafts. Refer To CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Mark The Assignment Of The Roller Rocker Lever For Installation Later.
-- Remove The Roller Rocker Lever And Place It On A Clean Surface.
-- Clean The Bearing And The Bearing Journals.
-- Place Plastigage® Over Entire Width Of Bearing Journal Or Into Bearing.
- Plastigage® Must Rest In Center Of Bearing.
-- Install The Camshafts, Mount The Bearing Bracket And Tighten To 8 Nm Without Additional Turn. Refer To Figure, Do Not Turn The Camshafts While Doing This.
-- Remove The Bearing Bracket And Camshafts.
-- Compare Width Of Plastigage® With Calibrated Scale.
Radial Clearance:
- For 24 mm Diameter Bearings: 0.024 to 0.066 mm
- For 36 mm Diameter Bearings: 0.032 to 0.078 mm.
