Overview - Hydraulic Line, Reservoir, Vehicles With 4-Cylinder Diesel Engine, Vehicles With Dynamic Steering

The power steering pump is not designed to be serviced. If there are customer complaints, the cause must be determined using a pressure and leak test. If there is a malfunction, replace the power steering pump.

NOTE:

If power steering fluid is low in reservoir, check steering system for leaks.

If there are leaks in the area of the line connections, the lines/connections must first be inspected for leaks, tightened as necessary and wiped dry.

The power steering pump is delivered without oil. Before installing, fill pump with Hydraulic Fluid and turn pump by hand. Otherwise, the power steering pump may be noisy when operating or may even be damaged.

Tensioning Strap
- Attach to body. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING, VEHICLES WITH 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .
Reservoir
- Note installed position. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING, VEHICLES WITH 4-CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, VEHICLES WITH AND WITHOUT DYNAMIC STEERING .
- Installation position of hoses on the reservoir. Refer to HOSE LINES TO RESERVOIR, HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER AND RETURN LINE INSTALLED POSITION .
