High-Mounted Brake Lamp Bulb -M25-, Removing And Installing, SPORTBACK: Removing

-- Do Not Press The Brake Pedal.

CAUTION:

The upper rear lid trim only needs to be unclipped at the upper edge and bent away to remove the high-mount brake light.
To prevent the upper rear lid trim from breaking, it must not be colder than 20 °C (68 °F). Warm the trim slightly with a hot air gun if necessary. This applies especially to older vehicles.

-- Unclip The Upper Rear Lid Trim Panel At The Upper Clips And Bend Them Away. Refer To LOWER REAR LID TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING / LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

-- Remove the nut -1- -arrows-.

-- Pry the retaining pin -4- on the outer side out of the clips -2- using the Trim Removal Wedge:3409 .

-- Loosen the self-adhesive seal -3- near the stud bolts and remove the high-mounted brake lamp -1- from the rear lid.

The self-adhesive seals will get damaged.

-- Remove the high-mounted brake lamp.
