Power Take-Off Drive Chain, Removing And Installing: Removing

The transmission is removed. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 0B4, or TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for 0B5 .

-- Remove the lower timing chain cover. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

Danger of damaging the drive chain because the bolt thread is too long.

Only use bolts with a maximum 22 mm thread length -a- to attach the Crankshaft Key T40049.
If only longer bolts are available, then the bolt head must be installed in such a way so that thread length is still 22 mm only.

-- Install the Crankshaft Key T40049 with two bolts -arrows- on the back of the crankshaft.

-- Remove the locking bolt -arrow- for the "Top Dead Center (TDC)" marking crankshaft from the cylinder block.

-- Rotate the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation to "TDC".

-- Install the Crankshaft Locking Pin T40069 in the hole and tighten to 20 Nm. Rotate the crankshaft -1- back and forth slightly to center the pin completely, if necessary.

-- Press the chain tensioner guide rail in direction of -arrow- and secure the chain tensioner using the Locking Pin T40071.

CAUTION:

Risk of destroying due to reversed running direction on a used drive chain.

Mark the drive chain running direction with arrows using paint for installation later. Do not mark the drive chain with a punch, notch or something similar.

-- Remove the bolts -3- and the balance shaft chain sprocket.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and the chain tensioner with the chain.
