Turbocharger, Removing And Installing, Engine Codes CLHA, CRBC, CRBD, CRKB, CRLB, CUNA, CRLC, DBKA, CXXB, CRUA, DEJA, DEJB, DBGA, DGCA, DCYA, DDYA, DGTE, DJGA And DFGA: Removing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Audi A3 and 2015 Audi A3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to FRONT EXHAUST PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING WITHOUT Cooling System Charge Kit - Electric Vacuum Pump .

-- Remove the rear coolant pipe. Refer to REAR COOLANT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the left coolant pipes. Refer to LEFT COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- If installed, remove the vacuum hose -arrow- and free it up.

USA Vehicles: 

CAUTION:

Risk of a violating emissions legislation on USA vehicles by the intake of leaked air.

- Do not open the hose connection on the crankcase ventilation.

Rest of the world vehicles: 

-- Press the release buttons on the crankcase ventilation hose -1- and remove from the cylinder head cover.

-- Free up the vacuum hose on the air duct pipe -arrows-.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and pivot the air duct pipe with the intake tube toward the rear and remove it from the turbocharger.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the resonator -1-.

-- Push the heat shield boot aside and disconnect the connector -5-.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -3- and remove the air duct hose.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -4- and remove the coolant hose.

-- Remove the bolt -1- with the Socket Bit XZN 10: T10501  and loosen the bolt -2-.

AWD Vehicles: 

-- Remove the right drive axle from the bevel box and tie it up toward the rear. Refer to OVERVIEW - DRIVE AXLE .

-- Remove the EGR cooler. Refer to EGR COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Tip:

For RHD vehicles, the emissions control module must be removed.

-- Open the heat shield boot -1-.

-- Remove the connector -5- from the bracket, disconnect it, and free up the wire.

-- Disconnect the connectors -3 and 6- and free up the wiring harness.

Vehicles with engine codes CRKB, CRLB, CRLC, CUNA, DBKA, CXXB, CRUA, DEJA, DEJB, DGCA, DCYA, DDYA, DGTE, DJGA and DFGA: 

-- Disconnect the connector -4- for the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 1 -G235-.

Continuation for All Vehicles: 

-- Remove the bolt -2-.

-- Lay the bracket with the differential pressure sensor(s) to the rear.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose.

-- Loosen the bolt -2-, remove the bolt -3- and pivot the coolant line to the side.

-- Disconnect the connectors and free up the wires.

  1. For the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 4 -G648-
  2. For the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 -G495-
  3. For the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 2 -G448- (installed depending on the emissions standard)

-- Remove the connector -4- for the Heated Oxygen Sensor -G39- from the bracket, disconnect it and free up the wire.

Vehicles with SCR System:

-- Remove the connector -2- for the EGR Temperature Sensor -G98- from the bracket, disconnect it and free up the wire.

-- Remove the connector -4- from the bracket, disconnect it, and free up the wire.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -1-.

-- Free up the coolant line -3- and the selective catalytic reduction lines -2-.

-- Remove the Reducing Agent Injector -N474- and lay it to the right side.

Vehicles with Parking Heater:

-- Lift the clamp -1-, open the hose clamp -3-, and remove the coolant hose.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and the coolant pipes.

-- Open the clamp -1- with the Socket Bit XZN 10: T10501  and position on the emissions control module inlet funnel.

-- Loosen the double bolt -2- and push the coolant pipe back slightly.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and push the emissions control module and EGR cooler toward the rear.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and union nut -4-.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the oil supply line.

- Do not bend the oil supply line.

-- Remove the bolts -3 and 5- and the oil return pipe.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 2, 3 and 4- and remove the bracket for the emissions control module.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the vacuum hose -2- from the turbocharger vacuum diaphragm.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and remove the turbocharger with the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head upward.
