Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Replacing: Installing
Use new bolts and new locking rings from the repair kit.
Version 1
-- Engage the control rod in the adjustment lever, install the vacuum diaphragm and install the bolts -1- all the way by hand.
-- Install circlip -4-.
-- Connect the connector -3- on the Charge Pressure Actuator Position Sensor -G581-.
VERSION 2
-- Engage the control rod in the adjustment lever, install the vacuum diaphragm and install the bolts -3- all the way by hand.
-- Install circlip -4-.
-- Connect the connector -2- on the Charge Pressure Actuator Position Sensor -G581-.
For All Versions
Checking the Vacuum Diaphragm Adjustment
-- Use a Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- In the OBD select under measured values Turbine Actuator 1 Bank 1, Raw Tension Location Response .
-- Set the slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213 in position -A- for "vacuum".
-- Connect the :VAS6213 to the vacuum diaphragm -arrow-.
- The vacuum should never be greater than 800 mbar (-11.6 psi).
VERSION 1
-- Run the : VAS6213 until the pressure gauge shows a vacuum between --650 mbar to -700 mbar (-9.42 psi to -10.15 psi).
-- Push the vacuum diaphragm -arrow- until the measured values are reached in the display field.
- Specified value: 0.75 ± 0.05 Volt
-- Tighten the bolts -1- to 10 Nm.
-- Slide the slider ring -1- on the :VAS6213 in the position -B- to vent the vacuum diaphragm until it reaches ambient temperature.
VERSION 2
-- Run the : VAS6213 until the pressure gauge shows a vacuum between -650 mbar to -700 mbar (-9.42 psi to -10.15 psi).
-- Push the vacuum diaphragm -arrow- until the measured values are reached in the display field.
- Specified value: 0.75 ± 0.05 Volt
-- Tighten the bolts -1- to 10 Nm.
-- Adjust slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213 to the -B- position, to bleed the vacuum diaphragm of ambient pressure.
Performing the Adaptation
-- Change in Guided Functions and select the 01 - Electric Adaptation Actuator with Feedback in the list.
-- Perform the adaptation
Check the Voltage Value Again after the Adaptation
-- Switch to OBD and select under measured values Turbine Actuator 1 Bank 1, Raw Tension Location Reponse .
-- Set the slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213 in position -A- for "vacuum".
-- Run the : VAS6213 until the pressure gauge shows a vacuum between -650 mbar to -700 mbar (-9.42 psi to -10.15 psi).
-- In the display field measured values a voltage value of 0.75 ± 0.02 Volt must be displayed.
Voltage Value Not OK.
The illustration shows version 1.
-- Loosen the bolts -1-.
-- Adjust the voltage value again. Refer to INSTALLING .
Voltage Value OK.
-- Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm and seal with sealing wax.
-- Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Delete the DTC memory using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
