Procedure 

• If valve is replaced during repair, use a new valve for measurement.
• Due to different stem diameters, only use an intake valve in the intake valve guide and an exhaust valve in the exhaust valve guide.
• The valve guides cannot be replaced.

-- Secure the Dial Indicator - 0-10mm: VAS 6079  on the cylinder head with the Dial Gauge Holder: VW 387  .

-- Place the valve in the valve guide.

• The end of the valve stem must be flush with the guide.

-- Determine the tilting clearance.

• Wear limit: 1.0 mm.

-- If the wear limit is exceeded, measure using new valves.

-- Replace the cylinder head if the wear limit is still exceeded.
