Overview - Camshaft Timing Chains

  1. Bolt
    • 9 Nm
  2. Chain Tensioner
    • Is under tension
    • Remove the Locking Pin:T40011  before removing
  3. Timing Chain Tensioning Rail
  4. Guide Pin
    • 20 Nm
  5. Bolt
    • Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
  6. Control Valve
    • 35 Nm
    • Left-hand thread
    • Depending on the version, remove with either the Assembly Tool :T10352  or Assembly Tool :T10352/1A 
  7. Bolt
    • Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
    • Always replace after removing.

  9. Bearing Bracket
  10. Camshaft Timing Chain Guide Rail
  11. Camshaft Housing
  12. Camshaft Timing Chain
    • Before removing, mark the running direction with paint
  13. Camshaft Timing Chain Guide Rail
  14. Guide Pin
    • 20 Nm
  15. Three Stage Chain Sprocket
    • Crankshaft
    • Installation position. Refer to Fig 3.

-- Tighten the bolts in the steps shown in the sequence:

Step Bolts Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1. -1 to 7- Install by hand all the way
2. -1 to 6- 9 Nm
3. -7- M6: pretension to 8 Nm M8: pretension to 20 Nm
4. -7- 90° additional turn
